Our 8 day tour is designed for those clients who do not have much time on their agenda, and for those clients who would like to add a quick visit to Cambodia as addition to their travels. As such it offers guided tours of the Temples of Angkor, the capital Phnom Penh, and some enjoyable and relaxing beach time on Sihanoukville’s beach.

Itinerary in detail

  

Day 1: Siem Reap - Arrival


Angkor-Monks

  • Met and welcomed by your guide upon arrival at the airport
  • Transfer to your hotel by private car
  • Visit the Roluos group, Hindu worship temples dating from the late 9th century
  • Explore the temple Preah Ko, erected by Indravarman in the late 9th century
  • See the temple Lolei, the twin to Preah Ko, and see its sandstone carvings
  • Discover the temple Bakong, the largest of the Rolous group
  • Overnight at a hotel in Siem Reap.

 

 

Day 2: Siem Reap –Elephant Ride- Angkor Thom – Angkor Wat


Elephant ride in Siem Reap

  • Depart for an elephant farm early in the morning
  • Take an elephant ride up the hill of Phnom Bakheng to see the sunrise
  • Explore the walled city of Angkor Thom, 10sq kms in size
  • Visit the South Gate, Bayon
  • See the fascinating Buddhist monastery of Ta Phrom, invaded by the jungle over many years
  • Visit the Baphuon with its splendid sculptures
  • Pass through the Terrace of the Elephants
  • See the Terrace of the Leper King with its beautiful carvings of gods, nagas, and dancers
  • The Royal Enclosure and its small temple, Phimeanakas
  • Discover and explore Angkor Wat, built in the first half of the twelfth century, and dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu
  • Witness the sunset, from the top of the hill of Phnom Bakheng
  • Overnight at a hotel in Siem Reap, including breakfast.

 

Day 3: Siem Reap – Preah Khan – Neak Pean – Ta Som – Thommanon – Chau Say Tevoda – Ta Keo -Banteay Kdei – Ta Phrom


Angkor

  • First visit three temples that were built by King Jayavarman VII: the monastery of Preah Khan, the small Temple of Neak Pean, and the Ta Som Temple
  • Then visit Thommanon temple, a Hindu Temple dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu
  • See Chau Say Tevoda, the twin Temple of Thommanon
  • Explore the unfinished sandstone temple of Ta Keo, and the sacred pond Sra Srang
  • Visit Banteay Kdei an imposing monastery, built in the late twelfth century
  • Visit the fascinating Buddhist monastery of Ta Phrom, invaded by the jungle over the years
  • Overnight at a hotel in Siem Reap including breakfast.

 

 

Day 4: Siem Reap - Tonle Sap - FLY - Phnom Penh


Tonle Sap

  • Drive to the fishing village of Kampung Phluk, on the banks of the Tonle Sap Lake
  • Take a cruise on a local boat to explore some of the nearby floating villages
  • See the huts of bamboo and straw, built on stilts to avoid flooding
  • Practice some of the traditional fishing techniques employed by the locals
  • Transfer to the airport for a flight to Phnom Penh
  • Overnight at a hotel in Phnom Penh including breakfast.

 

 

Day 5: Phnom Penh - City tour

  • Visit the National Museum of Fine Arts, a collection of sculptures exhibiting pre-Angkorian and Angkorian,
  • Visit the Royal Palace, resplendent in traditional Khmer architecture
  • See the Silver Pagoda and its magnificent Emerald Buddha
  • Explore Wat Phnom, the oldest of the city, and see the statue of Madam Penh
  • Visit the Museum of Genocidal Crime, which was the S-21 prison – the scene of the worst examples of brutality and torture under the infamous Pol Pot
  • Visit the camp Choeng Ek Killing Field, outside Phnom Penh, the last resting place of many Cambodian people, whose killings were committed by the brutal Khmer Rouge regime.
  • Take a stroll through the Central Market, famous for its Art Deco architecture.
  • Overnight at a hotel in Phnom Penh, including breakfast.

 

Day 6: Phnom Penh - FLY - Sihanouville

  • Transfer to the airport for a flight to Sihanouville
  • Enjoy free time at your leisure
  • Overnight at a hotel in Sihanouville including breakfast.

 

 

 

 

Day 7: Sihanouville - Free time
