Our 14 Day Splendors of Laos Tour enables our clients more time to explore this up and coming nation. Beginning at the Thai border in the north, down to the 4000 Islands in the south, you will be visiting and exploring a vast range of sights and areas of the emerging country.

Experience a border crossing, a river boat cruise down the Mekong River, broken by a night at Pakbeng Lodge, and on the way to Luang Prabang we will visit two venerated and sacred caves, and enjoy the panoramic scenery. On arrival at Heritage Listed Luang Prabang we explore the town and its surrounds, including a multi tiered waterfall with swimming holes. Explore spectacular caves in Vang Vieng before heading to the rising capital, Vientiane, before moving on to the Boloven Plateau, via Savannakhet. Discover two incredible waterfalls, spend a night at Tadlo Lodge before exploring the Angkor era Wat Phu.we then move to the 4000 Islands and Kingfisher lodge. After further explorations we transfer to Pakse for your departure flight.

Itinerary in details

Day 1: Houei Say (Thailand border) - Cruise - Pakbeng

  • Cross into Laos and meet your Lao guide
  • Board the wooden boat, cruising towards Pakbeng
  • Meet villagers and minority groups along the way
  • Arrive at Luang Say Lodge and book in

Day 2: Pakbeng - Cruise 5h - Kamu Lodge

  • Begin the cruise on the Mekong River
  • Cruise past through landscapes of exquisite beauty
  • Observe the distillation of rice wine
  • Lunch on board the boat
  • Continuing cruising to Kamu Lodge

Day 3: Kamu Lodge - Pak Ou - Luang Prabang

  • Begin the cruise to Luang Prabang

  • After arrival in Luang Prabang, enjoy free time
  • Stroll through the H’mong night market
  • Discover the local cuisine

Day 4: Luang Prabang - City tour

  • Early rise to witness the monks collecting alms
  • Visit some small morning markets, selling strange goods
  • Discover the local cuisine
  • Return to the hotel for breakfast

Then by tuk-tuk we continue our tour of the ancient capital:

  • Discover the beautiful Wat Xieng Thong, the royal Funeral Chariot and the reclining Buddha sanctuary
  • The oldest temple in Luang Prabang, and houses gold statues of Buddha
  • Find the That Makmo stone stupa
  • Vat Ahman, dedicated to ancestors of Laos
  • Explore the National Museum
  • See the richly decorated temple, Wat Mai
  • Stroll through the Darat market
  • Visit the night H’mong market
  • Enjoy a dance spectacle and welcoming ceremony
  • Overnight at a hotel in Luang Prabang, breakfast included.

Day 5: Luang Prabang - Khuang Sy waterfall - Luang Prabang

  • Depart for the beautiful Khuang Sy Waterfalls
  • Past traditional houses and lovely nature places
  • Discover the falls, nestled in lush vegetation
  • Relax and swim in the clear, blue pools of water there
  • Visit several villages, including a weaving and Saa paper producing one
  • See the Ock Pop Tok textile gallery
  • Stroll through the H’mong night market

Day 6: Luang Prabang - Ban Phanom - Tomb of Henri Mouhot - Elephant ride - Tad Sae waterfall

  • Depart for the village of Ban Phanom, known for its 100% silk weavings
  • Continue on to the tomb of Henry Mouhot a young French explorer
  • Swim in the fresh water on the banks of the Nam Khan River
  • Visit the Tiger Trail Elephant Camp and the adjacent Adventure Camp
  • Take a 1 hour elephant ride through the forest
  • Take a small journey to the Tad Sae waterfalls and can cool off before our return to Luang Prabang
  • Overnight at a hotel in Luang Prabang
  • Breakfast and a typical Lao lunch included.

 

 

Day 7: Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng

  • Depart for the town of Vang Vieng (160kms from Luang Prabang)
  • Past natural topography of karsts and set on the west bank of Nam Song River
  • Stop at Meo Village to visit a tea plantation
  • Lunch will be taken on route
  • Overnight at hotel in Vang Vieng
  • Breakfast and lunch included.

 

 

 

Day 8: Vang Vieng - Vientiane

  • Visit the local market
  • Discover some of the spectacular caves (thams) of the district
  • Stop at the historical site of Vang Xang,
  • Enjoy a downhill banana boat song nam, depending on the season
  • Continue on to Vientiane, with a scheduled stop en route to visit a village
  • Arrive in the capital in late afternoon, and transfer to hotel
  • Take a stroll through the Khua Din market
  • In the late afternoon, settle at a sidewalk cafe to watch the sunset over the Mekong River
  • Overnight at hotel in Vientiane
  • Breakfast included.

Day 9: Vientiane - City tour

  • Discover Vat Sisaket, built in 1818
  • Then Phraken Ho, the former royal chapel, the power base of the Kingdom of Lane Xang
  • See Patouxay, a large monument built to commemorate the Lao people who died in pre-Revolutionary wars
  • The large golden stupa of That Luang, founded in 1566 and is said to contain a hair of Buddha
  • Explore the temple Wat Si Muang, the most visited temple in Vientiane, considered the seat of the guardian spirit of the city
  • Relax with a steam bath and massage
  • Enjoy free time for personal investigations
  • Enjoy dinner with a folk dance show
  • Overnight at a hotel in Vientiane
  • Breakfast, dinner included.

 

Day 10: Vientiane - Thakhek - Savanakhet

  • Visit the Pha That Si temple with its large stupa
  • Discovery sacred lagoon surrounded by a beautiful translucent blue forest

Day 11: Savanakhet - Boloven plateau - Ethnic villages

  • Discover many agricultural plantations
  • Find the waterfalls, Tat Lo and Tat Fan
  • Lunch in the jungle
  • Visit a village of intriguing animists

Day 12: Pakse - Cruise - Wat Phou - 4000 islands - Khong Island
