Our 22 Days Laos and Cambodia in depth Tour enables exploration and discoveries in 2 countries, and gives participants a full picture of the similarities and differences of their culture, customs, beliefs and religions followings.

Arrive in the UNESCO rated city of Luang Prabang; enjoy a guided tour of the city and its surrounds. Discover palaces, temples, waterfalls, go swimming, and take a river boat cruise on the Mekong River to Kamu Lodge, along the way discover the sacred caves at Pak Ou then cruise back to Luang Prabang and enjoy an elephant ride and a fresh mountain water swim. Then drive to Xieng Khoang and explore the mysterious Plain of Jars. Next head for Vang Vieng, wonderfully set on the Mekong River, and explore the town and surrounds, then move south to Vientiane, the nation’s capital, for a guided tour of its sites. We then take the short flight to Pakse and discover some impressive waterfalls, ancient Wat Phu and then the famous 4000 Islands region before flying directly to Siem Reap in Cambodia and your guided tour of the awesome Temples of Angkor and surrounds, so revered that Angkor Wat appears on the nations flag. Travel to the capital Phnom Penh and enjoy a guided tour of the city and surrounds. We finish with your travel to the pristine beach Sihanoukville.

Day 1: Luang Prabang - Arrival

  • Met and welcomed by your guide on arrival at the airport, then transfer by private car to your hotel.
  • Climb Mount Phousi for panoramic views, and sunset
  • Enjoy a relaxing massage

 Day 2: Luang Prabang - City tour

  • Early rise to witness the monks collecting alms
  • Visit some small morning markets, selling strange goods
  • Discover the local cuisine
  • Return to the hotel for breakfast

Then we continue our tour of the ancient capital by tuk-tuk:

  • Discover the beautiful Wat Xieng Thong, the royal Funeral Chariot and the reclining Buddha sanctuary
  • The oldest temple in Luang Prabang, and houses gold statues of Buddha
  • Find the That Makmo stone stupa
  • Vat Ahman, dedicated to ancestors of Laos
  • Explore the National Museum
  • See the richly decorated temple, Wat Mai
  • Stroll through the Darat market
  • Visit the nightly H’mong market
  • Enjoy a dance spectacle and welcoming ceremony
  • Overnight at a hotel in Luang Prabang, breakfast included.

Day 3: Luang Prabang - Cruise - Kamu lodge

  • Rendesvous at the Luang Prabang pier.
  • Board a traditional wooden boat for the river cruise
  • Watch the riverbanks for bathing animals, or locals gold panning
  • Disembark after approx 1hr 30 mins to explore the two sacred caves at Pak Ou
  • Continue cruising through wilderness areas until we reach Kamu Lodge
  • Participate in different activities, or enjoy a tour of an ethnic Kamu village
  • Overnight at Kamu Lodge

Day 4: Kamu lodge - Luang Prabang

Day 5: Luang Prabang - Khuang sy waterfall - Ethnic minority villages

  • Depart for the beautiful Khuang Sy Waterfalls
  • Past traditional houses and lovely nature places
  • Discover the falls, nestled in lush vegetation
  • Relax and swim in the clear, blue pools of water there
  • Visit several villages, including a weaving and Saa paper producing one

  • Stroll through the H’mong night market

Day 6: Luang Prabang - Xieng Khuang Province - The Plain of Jars

  • Explore the “Plain of Jars” (site 1)
  • Discover massive sandstone jars weighing as much as 6 tonnes, scattered over a dozen separate sites
  • The origin of these jars is still unknown and further future excavations hope to answer this question
  • Attend villages of ethnic H’mong and Thai Phuan Dam people
  • Overnight at a hotel in Phonsavan including breakfast.

 

 

Day 7: Xieng Khoang - Vang Vieng

  • Visit sites 2 and 3 of the unexplained Plain of Jars
  • Discover the local market in Phonsavan

Day 8: Vang Vieng - Nam Ngum Lake - Vientiane

  • Pass by nature and beautiful scenery along the way
  • Cross the lake
  • Encounter people working at their particular trades
  • After lunch. head for Vientiane
  • Visit the Lao Farmers Society, a production co-operative
  • Continue on to see Lao fair trade networks
  • We receive product presentations, explanations and product tasting

  • Discover Vat Sisaket, built in 1818
  • Then Phraken Ho, the former royal chapel, the power base of the Kingdom of Lane Xang
  • See Patouxay, a large monument built to commemorate the Lao people who died in pre-Revolutionary wars
  • The large golden stupa of That Luang, founded in 1566 and is said to contain a hair of Buddha
  • Explore the temple Wat Si Muang, the most visited temple in Vientiane, considered the seat of the guardian spirit of the city
  • Relax with a steam bath and massage

Day 10: Vientiane - FLY - Pakse - Tadlo

  • See the temple Lolei, the twin to Preah Ko, and see its sandstone carvings

  • Visit Sericultural Puok, a Cambodian company specialising in silk production
  • Discover the whole silk making process, from the worms to the finished dyed and woven articles
  • Visit Chantiers Ecoles, a vocational training centre
  • Take a stroll through the old market, and enjoy a relaxing Khmer massage
  • Attend an Apsara Dance Show, including dinner

Day 17: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh


  • Drive to Phnom Penh by private car

  • Explore Wat Phnom, the oldest of the city, and see the statue of Madam Penh
  • Visit the Museum of Genocidal Crime, which was the S-21 prison – the scene of the worst examples of brutality and torture under the infamous Pol Pot
  • Visit the camp Choeng Ek Killing Field, outside Phnom Penh, the last resting place of many Cambodian people, whose killings were committed by the brutal Khmer Rouge regime.
  • Take a stroll through the Central Market, famous for its Art Deco architecture.
