Our 15 Days Laos – Cambodia Revealed Tour allows clients to begin in northern Laos and finish in the awesome Temples of Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and enjoy a comprehensive guided tour of the sites of both sacred religious countries.

Arrive in the UNESCO rated city of Luang Prabang; enjoy a guided tour of the city and its surrounds, Discover palaces, temples, waterfalls, go swimming, and take a river boat cruise on the Mekong River to Kamu Lodge, along the way discover the sacred caves at Pak Ou then cruise back to Luang Prabang. Next head for Vang Vieng set on the Mekong River and explore the town and surrounds, then move south to Vientiane, the nation’s capital for a guided tour of its sites. We then take the short flight to Pakse and discover impressive waterfalls, ancient Wat Phu and then the famous 4000 Islands region. Fly directly from Laos to Siem Reap in Cambodia, where our exploration and discovery of the incredible Temples of Angkor, and their surrounds., after which the tour ends.

Itinerary in details

 

Day 1: Luang Prabang - Arrival


Luang Prabang

  • Met and welcomed by your guide on arrival at the airport, then transfer by private car to your hotel.
  • Climb Mount Phousi for panoramic views, and sunset
  • Enjoy a relaxing massage
  • Overnight at a hotel in Luang Prabang.

 

 

 

 

Day 2: Luang Prabang - City tour

A designated UNESCO Heritage City Site.

  • Early rise to witness the monks collecting alms
  • Visit some small morning markets, selling strange goods
  • Discover the local cuisine
  • Return to the hotel for breakfast

Then we continue our tour of the ancient capital by tuk-tuk:

  • Discover the beautiful Wat Xieng Thong, the royal Funeral Chariot and the reclining Buddha sanctuary
  • The oldest temple in Luang Prabang, and houses gold statues of Buddha
  • Find the That Makmo stone stupa
  • Vat Ahman, dedicated to ancestors of Laos
  • Explore the National Museum
  • See the richly decorated temple, Wat Mai
  • Stroll through the Darat market
  • Visit the nightly H’mong market
  • Enjoy a dance spectacle and welcoming ceremony
  • Overnight at a hotel in Luang Prabang, breakfast included.

 

Day 3: Luang Prabang - Khuang sy waterfall - Ethnic minority villages

  • Depart for the beautiful Khuang Sy Waterfalls
  • Past traditional houses and lovely nature places
  • Discover the falls, nestled in lush vegetation
  • Relax and swim in the clear, blue pools of water there
  • Visit several villages, including a weaving and Saa paper producing one
  • See the Ock Pop Tok textile gallery
  • Stroll through the H’mong night market
  • Overnight at a hotel in Luang Prabang, breakfast included.

 

Day 4: Luang Prabang - Cruise - Kamu lodge

  • Rendezvous at the Luang Prabang pier.
  • Board a traditional wooden boat for the river cruise
  • Watch the riverbanks for bathing animals, or locals gold panning
  • Disembark after approx 1hr 30 mins to explore the two sacred caves at Pak Ou
  • Continue cruising through wilderness areas until we reach Kamu Lodge
  • Participate in different activities, or enjoy a tour of an ethnic Kamu village
  • Overnight at Kamu Lodge
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

 

Day 5: Kamu lodge - Luang Prabang

  • Cruise back to Luang Prabang on the traditional riverboat
  • On arrival back to Luang Prabang, have some free time
  • Transfer to the airport for the flight to Vientiane

Day 6: Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng

  • Depart for the town of Vang Vieng (160kms from Luang Prabang)
  • Past natural topography of karsts and set on the west bank of Nam Song River
  • Stop at Meo Village to visit a tea plantation
  • Lunch will be taken on route
  • Overnight at a hotel in Vang Vieng
  • Breakfast and lunch included.

 

 

Day 7: Vang Vieng - Vientiane

  • Visit the local market
  • Discover some of the spectacular caves (thams) of the district
  • Stop at the historical site of Vang Xang,
  • Enjoy a downhill banana boat song nam, depending on the season
  • Continue on to Vientiane, with a scheduled stop en route to visit a village
  • Arrive in the capital in late afternoon, and transfer to hotel
  • Take a stroll through the Khua Din market
  • In the late afternoon, settle at a sidewalk cafe to watch the sunset over the Mekong River
  • Overnight at a hotel in Vientiane
  • Breakfast included.

 

Day 8: Vientiane - City tour

  • Discover Vat Sisaket, built in 1818
  • Then Phraken Ho, the former royal chapel, the power base of the Kingdom of Lane Xang
  • See Patouxay, a large monument built to commemorate the Lao people who died in pre-Revolutionary wars
  • The large golden stupa of That Luang, founded in 1566 and is said to contain a hair of Buddha
  • Explore the temple Wat Si Muang, the most visited temple in Vientiane, considered the seat of the guardian spirit of the city
  • Relax with a steam bath and massage
  • Enjoy free time for personal investigations
  • Enjoy dinner with a folk dance show
  • Overnight at a hotel in Vientiane

Day 9: Vientiane - FLY - Bolaven - Pakse

  • Early transfer to airport for a flight from Vientiane to Pakse
  • Travel to the Bolovan Plateau, at an altitude of 1250m
  • Discover many agricultural plantations
  • Find the waterfalls, Tat Lo and Tat Fan
  • Lunch in the jungle
  • Visit a village of intriguing animists
  • Visit a textile weaving village
  • Overnight in Tadlo lodge breakfast included.

 

 

Day 10: Pakse - Wat Phou - Khong Island

  • Arrive at Champassak
  • Explore sacred Vat Phu
  • Lunch in the town
  • Cross the Mekong River by ferry
  • Discover the “4000 islands”
  • Transfer to Khong Island

Day 11: Khong Island - Khone Island

  • Explore Ban Khong village and Wat Keo Phouang
  • Detour to visit the local market
  • Cruise in a motorized canoe through this incredible region
  • Discover Khone Island’s old colonial mansions
  • Find spectacular Phapheng Waterfall, S-E Asia’s largest
  • Lunch at the Kingfisher Ecolodge
  • Observe rare “Irrawaddy” dolphins

Day 12: Khone Island - Pakse - FLY - Siem Reap

  • Transfer to the airport in Pakse for your flight to Siem Reap
  • Upon arrival, met and welcomed by our guide and transfer to your hotel.
  • First visit three temples that were built by King Jayavarman VII: the monastery of Preah Khan, the small Temple of Neak Pean, and the Ta Som Temple
  • Then visit Thommanon temple, a Hindu Temple dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu
  • See Chau Say Tevoda, the twin Temple of Thommanon
  • Visit Banteay Kdei an imposing monastery, built in the late twelfth century
  • Visit the fascinating Buddhist monastery of Ta Phrom, invaded by the jungle over the years
  • Overnight at a hotel in Siem Reap including breakfast.

 

Day 13: Siem Reap - Angkor temples

  • Depart for an elephant farm early in the morning
  • Take an elephant ride up the hill of Phnom Bakheng to see the sunrise
  • Explore the walled city of Angkor Thom, 10sq kms in size
  • Visit the South Gate, Bayon
  • See the fascinating Buddhist monastery of Ta Phrom, invaded by the jungle over many years
  • Visit the Baphuon with its splendid sculptures
  • Pass through the Terrace of the Elephants
  • See the Terrace of the Leper King with its beautiful carvings of gods, nagas, and dancers
  • the Royal Enclosure and its small temple, Phimeanakas
  • Discover and explore Angkor Wat, built in the first half of the twelfth century, and dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu
  • Overnight at a hotel in Siem Reap, including breakfast.

 

Day14: Siem Reap - Angkor Temples

  • Visit the monastery of Preah Khan ("Sacred Sword")
  • Visit the small temple of Neak Pean, a small temple built in the late 12th century
  • Discover Ta Som, east of Neak Pean

Day 15: Siem Reap - Tonle Sap - Departure


Tonle Sap

  • Drive to the fishing village of Kampung Phluk, on the banks of the Tonle Sap Lake
  • Take a cruise on a local boat to explore some of the nearby floating villages
  • See the huts of bamboo and straw, built on stilts to avoid flooding
  • Practice some of the traditional fishing techniques employed by the locals
  • Free time until transfer to the airport for your departure flight
