ITINERARY IN DETAIL

 

DAY 1 YANGON - ARRIVAL

  • On arrival, you meet your guide at the airport and transfer to your hotel by private vehicle
  • Discover scenic Yangon and the impressive 60mtr long and 16mtr high Buddha at Chaukhtatgyi, and the adjacent 2000yr old Sule Pagoda
  • Enjoy a guided tour of the famous Shwedagon Pagoda
  • Enjoy the colorful sunset reflections off the pagoda’s golden rooftops before returning to our hotel.
  • Overnight at hotel in Yangon

 

DAY 2 YANGON - FLY - MANDALAY


 ubein-bridge-madalayAfter breakfast you transfer by private car to the airport for a flight to Mandalay.

  • Meet with your guide on arrival and transfer to the city of Mandalay
  • We will discover
    • The Atumashi and Shwe Nandaw monasteries
    • Kuthodaw Pagoda
    • The Arakan Pagoda, also known as the Mahamuni Pagoda
  • After lunch, drive to Amarapura to visit,
  • A workshop to see marble sculpturing, and some gold hammering.
  • A cotton and silk weaving establishment
  • The Patodawgyi and Kyauktawgyi Pagodas.
  • And as sunset draws near we cruise on the Taungthaman boat to view the magical spectacle of U Bein Bridge, built in 1841and based on teak columns and is the longest teakwood bridge in the world.

DAY 3 MANDALAY


mingun-myanmar We visit the Jade Market then board a boat to go up the Irrawaddy River towards Mingun.

  • Disembark in front of the Satowya Pagoda
  • See a model of the Mingun Pagoda, and receive an explanation of same.
  • Visit the unfinished Mingun Pagoda
  • See the Mingun Bell that weighs over 90 tons, the largest bell in the world to ring.
  • Visit the Hsinbyume pagoda
  • We then return to Mandalay for lunch.
  • We will continue our day around the hills of Sagaing approximately 20kms south of Mandalay, using the metal bridge at Ava, after which we will enjoy a tour of Sagaing and its impressive panorama of pagodas that dot the surrounding countryside.

DAY 4 MANDALAY - MONYWA

  • An 85km drive from Mandalay to Monywa we will visit the Thanboddhay Pagoda, an imposing temple that houses an uncountable number of Buddha images.
  • Stop at Bodhi Tataung Pagoda
  • Enjoy the sunset and the calming influence it has as a conclusion to our day.
  • Overnight at hotel in Monywa

 

 

DAY 5 MONYWA - POWINGAUNG - PAKKOKU - BAGAN

  • We head to Powintaung
  • We then travel through the countryside and stop at Kyet Su Kin village
  • Take the time to experience the lifestyle and culture of rural Burma.
  • We will then proceed to the jetty in Pakkoku, and board a private local boat for the leisurely, two-hour cruise downriver to Bagan.
  • Overnight at hotel in Bagan.

 

DAY 6 BAGAN


bagan-templesOur guided tour of Old Bagan and popular surrounding sites can be made by carriage or bike, depending on your choice.

  • The door, Sarabha
  • The monastery of Ananda
  • Archaeological Museum
  • Thatbyinnyu Temple
  • Dhammayanzika Temple
  • Nanpaya Temple
  • Pagoda Bupaya
  • Manuha Temple
  • Discovery of a workshop, making traditional lacquer ware products
  • And at sunset, we will climb to the terrace of a temple to admire the scenery of Bagan in the last rays of the setting sun.

DAY 7 BAGAN

  • After a short tour of the Nyaung Oo Market, we will resume our visit to the ancient and historical archaeological sites, with a visit to Shwezigon Pagoda
  • After lunch, embark on a carriage ride and visit the village of Minnanthu
  • Visit the Tayoke Pyay and see its temple frescoes, and also enjoy the spectacular views and contemplate the pinnacle of the temple.
  • Visit the pagoda Dhammayazika
  • Enjoy dinner in Bagan and a puppet show.
  • Overnight at hotel in Bagan

 

DAY 8 BAGAN - MONT POPA - KALAW

  • Drive to Mount Popa
  • On arrival, check in to your hotel and stroll around the small village and its old colonial houses and local market.
  • the end of the day is at your own leisure for relaxation.

DAY 9 KALAW - PINDAYA - INLE LAKE

  • Drive to the small peaceful town of Pindaya (1hr15 drive).
  • On arrival, visit Pindaya's cave
  • Stroll around the village and visit a workshop of shan-paper umbrellas
  • Continue to Nyaungshwe village, the gateway to Inle Lake. Take a boat to reach your hotel, located on the beautiful Inle Lake.
  • Overnight at hotel on Inle Lake

 

DAY 10 INLE LAKE

  • Take a motorized canoe for a cruise and excursion on Inle Lake
  • We stay in our canoe until Ywama to visit:
    • Phaung Daw U Pagoda
    • Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery (also known as the Monastery of jumping cats.)
    • Visit a workshop making cheroots, the traditional local cigar.
    • Visit a workshop making weavings of cotton and silk
    • Visit a traditional blacksmith shop
  • Overnight at a lakeside hotel

 

DAY 11 INLE LAKE

  • In the morning, visit a market to meet some ethnic Pa-O, Padaung and Intha people, and also to sample some typically local specialties.
  • We stay onboard our dugout until we reach Maing Thauk
  • discover the wonderful site Inthein and old and beautiful 12th-century Burmese stupas
  • Enjoy a dinner show, and spend our night in a lakeside hotel
  • Overnight in hotel in Inle lake
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

 

DAY 12 INLE LAKE - FLY - YANGON - DEPARTURE


  • Transfer to Heho for our morning flight back to Yangon.
  • Enjoy some free time for preparations for our departing international flight
