Itinerary

 

Day 1: Hanoi - Arrival

  • Met and welcomed by your guide upon arrival
  • Transfer to hotel by private car
  • Enjoy a traditional cyclo ride of exploration through the busy streets of the ‘Old Quarter’
  • Enjoy a water puppet show, a traditional and ancient art form, unique to Vietnam.
  • Overnight at a hotel in Hanoi.

 

Day 2: Hanoi - Hoa Lu - Tam Coc - Train - Lao Cai

  • Head north to Hoa Lu, the site of the country’s first capital (years968-1009)
  • Visit the temples of Dinh Tien Hoang (restored in the 17th century) and Le Dai Hanh
  • Head for Tam Coc town, known as ‘Halong Bay in the rice fields
  • Have lunch in Tam Coc town
  • Board small sampan and traverse the Ngo Dong River through the rice fields
  • Enter three sacred caves, the Tam Coc Caves
  • Return to Hanoi in the afternoon
  • Transfer to the Hanoi Railway Station for an overnight train to Lao Cai
  • Overnight on train.

Day 3: Lao Cai - Sapa - Lao Chai - Ta Van 


Sapa

  • Arrive at Lao Cai Train Station very early in the morning
  • Refresh in a provided bathroom and have breakfast
  • Transfer by private vehicle to Sapa for a day of hiking to meet ethnic minorities in their homelands, in the heart of rice fields
  • Visit the village of Y Linh Ho in Muong Hoa valley
  • Trek for about 6 kms through landscapes of terraced rice fields to Lao Chai village, home of the Black H'mong minority group.
  • Meet people proudly dressed in their distinct identifying costumes
  • Walk a distance of 2 km to the Ta Van Giay village inhabited by other ethnic groups
  • Transfer back to Sapa
  • Overnight at a hotel in Sapa, breakfast included.

Day 4: Sapa - Bac Ha market - Ban Pho Villages - Train - Hanoi


Bac Ha Market

  • Transfer by private car from Sapa to Bac Ha
  • Attend the Bac Ha Area Market, probably the most colourful market in all of Northern Vietnam with local handicrafts, rice wine, fresh fruit, meat and live animals
  • Pay a visit to the H’mong Kings House (King Hoang A Tuong), built by the French in 1920
  • Visit Ban Pho village and meet with the colourful Tay and H’mong inhabitants
  • " If the water is ennough we can take a trip by boat on the Chay River
  • See a beautiful waterfall and the Fairy Cave set deep in the surrounding landscapes"
  • Visit the minority village of Thay Trung Do, travelling through the scenic valley
  • Journey back to Lao Cai passing many tea plantations and small villages
  • In the late afternoon take bus to Hanoi on highway
  • Overnight at Hotel in Hanoi 

Day 5: Hanoi - Halong - Cruise and night on board

  • Transfer from Hanoi to Halong Bay by private car with tour guide
  • Halong Bay, with its 1969 islands, is set in beautiful turquoise waters and was recognized for its natural beauty by UNESCO in 1994, and classified as a World Heritage Site.
  • Receive a welcome drink on boarding
  • Install in private cabins
  • Start your cruise while enjoying lunch.
  • Lunch is served from a delicious seafood menu while cruising to magnificent Bai Tu Long Bay
  • Admire the beautiful landscapes
  • Visit the mysterious Canh Thien cave

Day 6: Halong - Cruise - Hanoi

Day 7: Hanoi - City tour - Fly - Hue

  • Visit the One Pillar Pagoda

Day 8: Hue - City tour

Day 9: Hue - Hoian

  • Visit Tu Duc’s Mausoleum
  • Travel by private car from Hue to Hoian via the Hai Van Pass
  • Visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture in Da Nang on the way
  • Discover the five Marble Mountains, each named after a component of the planet: Fire, Wood, Iron, Water and Earth.

Day 10: Hoian - Tra Que village

Day 11: Hoian

Day 12: Hoian - Fly - Nha Trang

  • Move on to Mieu Island for coffee and a seafood meal
  • Discover the fishing village of Mieu and the lives of its fishermen inhabitants
  • Journey back to Nha Trang
  • Enjoy free time at your leisure, enjoying the pleasures of the sea on one of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches, lined with coconut trees!

Day 14: Nha Trang

Day 16: HCM City - Mekong delta - Cruise and night on Song Xanh Sampan

  • Travel by road to Cai Be
  • Board on the Song Xanh Sampan, with nicely furnished private cabins, with en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and tastefully decorated by Vietnamese artisans
  • Cruise downstream on the Tien Giang River to Cho Lach
  • Lunch will be served during the cruise
  • See the river activity of the many sands and rice barges on the river
  • Visit the inhabitants of a village on the banks of the Mang Thit River
  • Visit the lush, productive orchards or nearby rice fields
  • Back on board and cruise towards the Mang Thit
  • Anchor for the night in the small floating market downstream from Tra On
  • Overnight on board

Day 17: Mekong - Sampan - HCM City

  • Transfer to a lighter boat to visit the Cai Rang market on close by canals
  • Discover the people whose life is maintained around these wonderful markets on water
  • Visit a colonial house and orchard planted with durian, oranges, and mangosteen
  • Enjoy the peaceful setting in which some people live in the Delta region
  • Land at the pier in Ninh Kieu in Can Tho
  • Enjoy a stroll around the covered market in Can Tho
  • Journey back to Ho Chi Minh City
