Visit the walled city of Angkor Thom, 10sq kms in size. To see :

  • South Gate, Bayon built under Jayavarman VII in late 12th century, with 54 towers, each with four faces of Buddha.
  • The Baphuon with its splendid sculptures.
  • The Terrace of the Elephants.
  • The Terrace of the Leper King with its beautiful carvings of gods, nagas, and dancers.
  • The Royal Enclosure and its small temple, Phimeanakas.
  • Completing our day we see the fascinating Buddhist monastery of Ta Prohm, invaded by the jungle and truly stunning to see and photograph.
  • Visit Angkor Wat, built in the first half of the twelfth century, and dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. 

If the weather does not permit you to see the sunrise, you may witness the sunset, from the top of the hill of Phnom Bakheng, which offers a magnificent overview of Angkor Wat.

Siem Reap Banteay Srei

Travel across to the sacred Kulen mountain range, before taking a stroll through the forest to Kbal Spean, known as ‘The River of a Thousand Lingas’. It is a natural riverbed with many Lingas elaborately carved into the riverbed and many images of Hindu deities and animals are dotted in the surrounds. 

Visit Phnom Kulen, considered by Khmers to be the most sacred mountain in Cambodia, as there are many Angkorian sites and temples scattered around its plateau.

Visit Banteay Srei, a Hindu temple dating back to the 10th century. Called “the citadel of women”, its stone has a marvellous pink hue, and is very well preserved. Classic carvings, some three dimensional, adorn this temple.

Visit Banteay Samre, a Hindu temple dedicated in the 12th century to Vihnou Shiva. This temple has been beautifully restored, and consists of a central temple with four wings, and the whole ensemble is enclosed by two large concentric walls.

We drive to the fishing village of Chaong Kneas, on the banks of the Tonle Sap Lake, board a boat and take a cruise to explore some of the floating villages on this massive expanse of water. 

Visit Sericultural Puok, a Cambodian company specializing in the production of the country’s beautiful silk, known all around the world.
