Day 1Hanoi - Arrival

Your adventure in Vietnam has started:

  • You will be welcomed at the airport then transferred to your arranged hotel for relaxation.
  • Prepare to learn about Vietnamese culture while enjoying good quality Vietnamese coursing and let the excitement begin!

Day 2Hanoi - Explore the city in depth

Depending on your centers of interest and the timing, you manage with your guide the choice of these visits and the order in which you wish to do them!

  • The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
  • The One Pillar Pagoda
  • Quan Thanh Temple & Tran Quoc Pagoda
  • Visiting Dong Xuan Market
  • Visiting the Women’s Museum

Day 3Hanoi - Mai chau

After having breakfast, depart in the morning to Mai Chau:

  •  Along the way, stop at Duong Lam ancient village, where retains most of the characteristics of a typical Vietnamese village: a village gate, banyan trees, a wharf, a communal yard, pagodas, temples, a well, and rice fields. Take a visit to Mong Phu Village built with laterite stone and rammed earth dwellings.
  • Have a typical Vietnamese lunch in an ancient house with a local family.
  • Continue your journey to Mai Chau and drive through beautiful valleys carved by rice terraced fields. Mai Chau is home to the ethnic White Thai group, distant relatives of tribes located in Thailand, China and Laos.
  • End the day at a homestay in Mai Chau to take a rest.
  • Have a cozy dinner with a local family. Then enjoy Thai traditional dance performance and drink “Ruou Can” – a traditional alcohol made from rice.

Authentic Experience: Have a typical Vietnamese meal in an ancient house and get in touch with locals

  • Hanoi – Duong Lam: 50 km (~1.5-hour drive)
  • Duong Lam – Mai Chau: 120 km (~3-hour drive)

Day 4Mai chau - TREKKING - Pu Luong

You will be surrounded by large rising mountains while going to the Mai Hich village. Soak in pictures for the memory while enjoying the fresh air:

  • Walk around the small villages or take a cycle trip of 15 km to the Mai Hich Village, while passing rice fields and enjoy the fresh air in the mountain area. Meet the locals doing their daily work on the rice fields and learn more about their culture.
  • Meet your host for the lunch of our recommended homestay. Try fried pineapple or long time cooked meat that melts in your mouth.
  • In the afternoon, take a drive to Pu Luong. Our retreat hotel in the Don Village is located on the top of the nature reserve in Pu Luong. Relax and enjoy the sunset from the infinity pool/ Enjoy a homemade dinner with your homestay host.

  • Mai Hich Village – Pu Luong: 2-hour drive

Day 5Pu Luong

Go for a trekking tour surrounded by mountains and paddies while passing through small villages.

  • Walk through villages, rice terraces and forest to get to the Hieu Village. Take in the sounds from children playing and birds flying by.
  • Jump into the waterfall located in the Hieu Village and refresh from the hike. Bring your bathing suit and take a dip in the cold water.
  • Enjoy your lunch surrounded by locals before heading back to our retreatment place where you can relax and enjoy the view.

Day 6Pu Luong - Ninh Binh

Today’s trek will be through the stunningly beautiful Pu Luong Valley with its steep ascents and relaxing downhill trails, until we reach the scenic village of Kho Muong, nestled between steep limestone outcrops and lush verdant hillsides.

  • Start to trek with 2 sections. The first section is hard with some steep climbs and stream crossings. The second one is glorious with beautiful views of the valley, rice terraces, rich rainforests and meandering streams.
  • Arrive in Kho Muong village is always special as the setting of the village is perhaps the most beautiful in Northwest of Vietnam, nestled between steep karst mountains with rice terraces in the afternoon.
  • Head to amazing Ninh Binh – “Halong Bay on land”. Ninh Binh is home to the country’s first capital called Hoa Lu, making it an important stop on your trip in understanding the Vietnamese culture.
  • End the day at the cosy homestay with the Hiep family, where your host allows you to settle into their daily routine and live like a Vietnamese family.

Authentic Experience: Trek through beautiful rice terraced fields
Get amazed by the stories of origins of all kinds of species, from animals to plants.

Day 7Ninh Binh - Night TRAIN - Lao Cai

Visit the amazing Ninh Binh – “Halong Bay on land”. Tam Coc is home to the country’s first capital called Hoa Lu, making it an important stop on your trip in understanding the Vietnamese culture.

  • Explore Hoa Lu, the site of the country’s first capital, which covered almost three sq km.
  • Board a sampan and navigate Ngo Dong River where limestone towers rise above rice fields.
  • Bike to the Bich Dong Pagoda and climb the stairs carved into the rock walls. The view from the top is breathtaking and with the climb. If timing allows, continue biking through the countryside to the Thai Vi temple in Tam Coc.
  • End the day at the cosy homestay with the Hiep family, where your host allows you to settle into their daily routine and live like a Vietnamese family.

Back to Hanoi to catch a night train to Lao Cai.

Authentic Experience: Acquaint yourself with your homestay host and settle yourself into their daily routine/Cycle through the lush rice fields.

Day 8Lao Cai - Bac Ha Market - Sapa

Arrive early in the morning at Lao Cai Train Station where your guide will welcome and transfer you to Bac Ha by private car:

  • Visit the colourful and vibrant Bac Ha Market awaits your presence, where you will meet many ethnicities: Flower H’mong, Black Dao, Tay, Giay, Ha Nhi and Nung.
  • Admire the colonial H’mong King Palace that was built by the French a century ago.
  • In the afternoon, visit Ban Pho village and meet the Flower H’mong inhabitants.
  • Continue to engage with local people and familiarize yourself with your homestay.

Authentic Experience: Stay in a homestay and experience corn-wine making with locals.

Day 9Sapa - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van - Homestay

Starting a new day of discovery:

  • Hike within the village of  Y Linh Ho in Muong Hoa valley among the terraced rice fields
  • Trek to the village of the H’mong minority, Lao Chai
  • Walk two km to Ta Van village, inhabited by the Giay ethnic tribe

Day 10Ta Van - Ma Tra - Ta Phin - BUS - Hanoi

After another day of discovery:

  • Commence the day with a small hike along narrow trails, through pine forests, wonderful gardens, then through the Black H’mong village of Ma Tra who occupy the higher land on which they build narrow terraced rice paddies.
  • Trek to Ta Phin village, home to the Red Dzao ethnic minority group who cultivate larger and flat fields around the center of the valley.
  • After a long day trekking, refresh yourself in the medicinal bath of the Red Dao Ethnic. This special kind of bathing is famous not only for its materials which are all good for health, but also for its refreshing that it brings to the customers’ mind.

*3h, catch bus back to Hanoi. Arrival in Hanoi around 9 PM

Day 11Hanoi - Halong - CRUISE and NIGHT on board

Transfer to the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage site, Halong Bay:

  • Navigate to Bai Tu Long Bay, a well-selected route away from the main tourist circuit. Experience the bay’s treasures and enjoy your time away from the crowd on a traditional wooden boat
  • Venture into the fantastically formed Thien Canh Son Cave and be fascinated by the formations of the bay.
  • Participate in kayaking, swimming or relax on the white sand beach of Hon Co Island.
  • Relish skillfully prepared local seafood and settle into your cabin while the boat anchors for the night.

Day 12Halong - Hanoi - FLY - Hue

For the final day in the bay, you will have adventure activities that will stick to your memory:

  • Start the morning with a delightful breakfast with an astonishing view under the morning sun.
  • Sail in a rustic row-boat that the locals are using to Vung Vieng fishing and pearl farm.
  • Take the last dive and dip into the refreshing bay before travelling back to Hanoi in the early afternoon.
  • Settle into an evening flight from Hanoi to HUE, where you will be welcomed by our guide and be transferred to your arranged accommodation.

Day 13Hue - City tour

Hue was Vietnam’s former capital of built by the Nguyen Dynasty and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the ancient relics, historical monuments, and fine continuation of imperial traditions.

Stroll through the Imperial Citadel and daydream about its former dynasty

  • Explore the symbol of Hue city, the Thien Mu pagoda and admire the garden-style homes at An Hien.
  • Glance at, and be bewitched by the Mausoleum of Minh Mang
  • After a tour around the city, visit a village which specializes in incense-making, and a true icon of Vietnam – conical hats.
  • Visit Dong Ba open-air market.

Day 14Hue - Hoi An

Take a drive via the Hai Van Pass with spectacular views, known as “the pass in the clouds to reach Hoian.

Take in the breath of fresh air that is the riverside port town of Hoi An:
• Stroll through the delightful trading port and see the remaining century-old buildings in Hoi An.
• Appreciate the narrow alleys, charming homes with wooden balconies, fascinating architectural features, beautiful temples, and the famous Japanese Bridge.
• Discover the historic port lit up at dusk by hundreds of beautifully coloured lanterns, which creates spectacular photo opportunities.

Day 15Hoi An

Suggested program:

  • Morning: Free time
  • In the afternoon, with our guide, and a bicycle from your hotel, discover this charming little village, 3 km from Hoi An’s centre, an easy cycle on the good flat road. The guide will explain the history of the village and its particular culture of growing vegetables organically, using algae from the nearby lake as fertiliser.
  • Discover its garden areas, and explanations on the use of various herbs grown there in traditional Vietnamese medicine. And if you feel inclined, you may participate in a little gardening yourself!

Authentic Experience: Being a farmer on one of the greenest, and most organic farm around.

Day 17Hoi An - FLY - HCM City - City tour

Settle into a morning flight from Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City, where you will be welcomed by our guide at the airport and be transferred to the center for a day of exploring Saigon (currently Saigon) Various cultures mesh together to create a patchwork city of foreign influences:

  • Thien Hau Temple and the Binh Tay Market, built by the Cantonese congregation
  • The War Remnants Museum that is home to the history of locals’ perspectives of the American/Vietnam War
  • The old Presidential Palace is where victory was declared after years of fighting and is preserved as found with vehicles still in the garages
  • The Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Saigon Post Office are both magnificent displays of French architecture

Day 18HCM City - Mekong

Leaving Ho Chi Minh City behind us as, we head to the Tan Cang pontoon in Saigon by private car, then transfer to Can Gio Mangrove Forest by boat.

  • A light breakfast will be served on board with a menu of Banh Mi (the traditional Vietnamese sandwich) accompanied by a Ca Phé Sua Da (Vietnamese Iced Coffee)- the perfect companion of Banh Mi.
  • Visit of the Can Gio market. This riverside market at the gates of the Mekong Delta is very lively and colorful.
  • Arrival at the giant bats marsh, you will explore this part of the rowing mangrove on board a small traditional wooden boat.
  • Treat yourself to a traditional Vietnamese lunch and enjoy poetic scenery of this restaurant located nearby a pond.
  • In the afternoon, take a visit to Vam Sat Eco Park. You will visit a crocodile farm and even feed them (if you want). Then observe the monkeys in their natural habitat and enjoy a small game of crab fishing.
  • Departure from Can Gio and return to Saigon at around 5:00 PM.
