Detailed Itinerary

Day 1Hanoi - Arrival

Welcome by the guide of Hanoi Voyages upon your arrival at the airport, and transfer by private car to the hotel. In the afternoon, try cyclo for 1 hour to discover:

  • From the colonial district with its charming architecture, to the avenues lined with greenery
  • Hoan Kiem Lake and its legend and Ngoc Son
  • From the maze of streets teeming with small shops in the heart of the famous and fascinating “old quarter of the 36 corporations” and its famous silk street (Hang Gai)

Depending on your wish, the evening entertainment will be scheduled either on the 1st day of your arrival or on a following day to be chosen with your guide, depending on the timing of the days in Hanoi.

Day 2Hanoi - Ha Long Bay - CRUISE & NIGHT on board

Transfer to the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage site, Halong Bay:

  • Navigate to Bai Tu Long Bay, a well-selected route away from the main tourist circuit
  •  Arrive in kayaking area – that is Cap La Island. Enjoy kayaking through the karst and breath-taking nature, swimming and relaxing
  • Get back to the boat and enjoys our Sunset party while our cruise sailing to the overnight anchorage
  • Dive into culinary culture of Vietnam with a local chef by joining a cooking class on board and then enjoy delicious canapé tea
  • Free time to challenge yourself in Vietnamese puzzle games, or gathers your group/family for a board game; try your luck with squid fishing or simply has a cocktail and enjoy the quiet night on the bay.

Highlight experience:  Escape the crowd and relax in the Bai Tu Long Bay

Day 3Ha Long Bay - Hanoi - TRAIN - HUE

For the final day in the bay, you will have adventure activities that will stick to your memory:

  • Start the morning with a Tai Chi routine on sundeck or catch a morning view of the stunning bay’s landscape with a cup of tea or coffee and then enjoy delightful breakfast with an astonishing view under the morning sun.
  • Explore the well-hidden Thien Canh Son Cave.
  • Attend in a Vietnamese cooking demonstration. You can quickly learn a simple but delicious Vietnamese dish that Gordon Ramsey (a 2 Michelin Star Chef) used to guide – Nem Cuon or challenge yourself in fruit and vegetables carving.
  • After enjoying a traditional Vietnamese lunch on boat, transfer back to Hanoi by shuttle bus.

Then we will leave Hanoi by night train to arrive Hue

Day 4Hue - City tour

Best known as the old capital, Hue has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its ancient relics, historical monuments and fine examples of local culture. Many of these are surprisingly well preserved and intact and journeys to this historical city hold promise of great times and lasting memories.

As the nation’s capital from 1802 to 1945 there are many sites that reflect Hue’s rich history, and many others that allow relaxation while absorbing the area’s natural beauty.

Spend a full day discovering Hue, Vietnam’s former capital built by the Nguyen Dynasty,

Commence your day with a visit to the Imperial Citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. Then visit the Mausoleum of Tu Duc which was first used as a palace retreat before its final usage as the emperor’s resting place

  • Take a boat ride on the gentle Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda on the bank of the River.
  • Visit An Hien Garden House – the most typical and oldest garden house with traditional architecture in Hue
  • Visit Thanh Tien village specializing in making paper flowers that has gone on for about four hundred years.

We finish our day with a stroll through the Dong Ba market.

Day 5Hue - HOI AN

Drive to Hoi An from Hue via the Mandarin Road, crossing  the Hai Van Pass whose elevation has led to it being known as “the pass in the clouds” and it commands spectacular views.

Detour to Da Nang to visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture, which was created in 1919 and houses sculptures from archaeological sites from the region. The Cham inhabited much of the area between the 7th and 15th centuries, and many of sculptures are inspired by Hindu art, from whom the inhabitants of the time descended.

Discover the marble mountains, known as “the five mountain hills” each bearing the name of one of the components of our planet, Water, Iron, Earth, Wood, Fire.

Beautiful marble is extracted from the mountains, in various colors and you can admire the sculptures and the artists at work.

Marble Mountain is home to Buddhist and Taoist deities.

Day 6Hoi An - Cycling to Tra Que

With our guide, and a bicycle from your hotel, discover this charming little village, 3 km from Hoi An’s centre, an easy cycle on the good flat road.

The guide will explain the history of the village and its particular culture of growing vegetables organically, using algae from the nearby lake as fertiliser.

Discover its garden areas, and explanations on the use of various herbs grown there in traditional Vietnamese medicine. And if you feel inclined, you may participate in a little gardening yourself!

You will be introduced to different culinary delights under the supervision of the gardener that receives you and this will culminate with you enjoying them for lunch (Cooking class)

Many local specialties will be prepared and consumed, like ‘tam huu’, (vegetable spring rolls), banh xeo, a traditional pancake topped with meat and Cao Lau.

The day will end with a visit to the packing workshops, before you enjoy the easy cycle ride back to your hotel.

Take in the breath of fresh air that is the riverside port town of Hoi An:

  • Stroll through the delightful trading port and see the remaining century-old buildings in Hoi An
  • Appreciate the narrow alleys, charming homes with wooden balconies, fascinating architectural features, beautiful temples, and the famous Japanese Bridge
  • Visit a lantern factory which the city got famous for around the world
  • Discover the historic port lit up at dusk by hundreds of beautifully coloured lanterns, which creates spectacular photo opportunities

Day 9Ho Chi Minh - Cao Dai - Cu Chi - Free

A pleasant morning drive through the countryside, observing picturesque scenery local people and village life, to Tay Ninh Province, to visit the Cao Dai Temple and see the melding of the secular and religious philosophies from East and West, known in Vietnam during the early 20th century, including Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Vietnamese spiritualism, Christianity and Islam. A very colorful experience!

After lunch we visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, part of an unbelievably complex system of tunnels built by the Vietnamese resistance fighters which help their efforts to repel the Americans during the war. Some tunnels were 2 or 3 stories deep, with hospitals, sleeping quarters and storerooms underground and have been enlarged to allow tourists to enter them.

We return to HCM City late in the afternoon and enjoy freetime.
